Time For Snow Cream!

We've had a lot of snow and too much ice causing branches to fall and way too many trees to come down as well. My husband wasn't even able to go to work yesterday with all the tree in the road. He said he drove around three before he came to one that there was just no going around. What a perfect opportunity to relax for the day and make some snow cream. Hooray! These were my three year old exact words.
Now I have never been big on exact measuring when it comes to simple recipes but I do have one for you to go by.

Basic Snow Cream Recipe
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup milk
1 egg (beaten before you add to mixture)
Snow (a big bowl)

Something to remember though. It takes about 2 hours of snowfall to remove the pollution in the air. So it is best to wait it out. I know, I know. I want a frozen treat too. Then scrape the top layer of snow, don't go for the bottom layer. Watch out for areas where pets frequent. You know what I mean. And don't be put off by the fact there is a raw egg in there. Just thing of those body builders who eat God knows how many raw eggs in a week. It ain't gonna kill ya.

This is one of those memories that will stick with your kids for the rest of their lives. I remember my mom making snow cream when I was young. I always thought that was the coolest thing. Only she put cocoa in hers as she is a chocolate freak. I've heard of some people putting a mashed banana in the mix, applesauce and cinnamon and I'd say you could bust out some of your home made preserves to add to the mixture.
