Baking Soda Has Amazed Me

Still on the rampage with my winter cleaning, I noticed or maybe just remembered. "Hey! My stove is nasty on the inside, gross." I keep the outside of the stove clean, but for some reason my mind works on a level; out of sight out of mind. As you can tell by the picture it was pretty funky in there. I only notice when I put something in the oven and then the oven was hundreds of degrees and cleaning was not an option. By the time supper was served, eaten, and put away. Well, it was out of mind again.

I've always been afraid of stove cleaners for some reason. The idea of putting caustic chemicals and then turning on the stove to high temperatures always seemed like igniting a bomb in your kitchen. Anything that would be harsh enough to eat away the cooked on...well, everything, did not seem safe to me. So I barely cleaned my stove. What I did clean didn't nearly take care of the baked on mess that results from regular use.

This to my shame has never been an issue as I have always rented before and well, let's just say, I moved on. Now that I own my own property. My stove, my problem. So what was I to do. Terrified of stove cleaners, but in an obvious need to clean this nasty mess.

I've always seen recipes for natural cleaners to use baking soda for tuff messes, it acts as a natural and gentle abrasive cleaner. So I thought "What the hey lets try it." My elbow grease isn't getting me anywhere. Pulled out the box and sprinkled some on. You can see by the picture that it worked amazingly well. I was so impressed that I had to take a picture and share it with you guys.

I am very much into natural cleaners. For one, they are natural. Two, I simply can't breath in the vapors from regular household cleaners. I've always been this way. Trying to clean with my shirt pulled over my nose or holding my breath and doing what I can till I run out of the bathroom gasping for air. So there you have it, an odorless, natural cleaner that will get the job done. I should have taken a picture of my sparkling oven after I was done. Fabulous.

As you can see from the picture I used a plastic scouring pad, dish rag, and of course the good ol' baking soda. Wet the area a bit with a dish rag getting what you can cleaned from it, then pour on some baking soda and go to town with the plastic scouring pad. Wipe clean with the dish rag and there you have it. I would suggest a bucket of hot water or fill the sink. It will come in handy to wipe away left over debrea and baking soda. Oh, if I'm not mistaken, this is cheaper and can save you money as well.

Trees Aren't Out of the Picture Yet

Just today my son and I planted a couple of little saplings in the yard. There is time still yet to bring new life into your yard or land. There are far too many people that stick to the belief that trees must be planted in spring. This is far from the truth. Every since we have had our own place we buy a living X-Mas tree. Now if you go by the tag, it will tell you to winter it over till spring. This is far from the truth.
It puts much more stress on a tree to try and keep it going till spring. Factors such as sufficient light, water needs, and room to spread it's roots put much more stress on a tree than if you were to go ahead and plant it and let it hibernate through the winter. It is very hard for a tree to make it through the winter trying to survive in your home without the right conditions.

The very first X-Mas tree that we got, we tried to do just that. We read the label and kept it indoors till spring. It struggled until it's end this year. The trees that we've gotten since then we wait till the ground isn't frozen and go ahead and plant them. They have survived. Call it coincident if you want to but...

An important thing to remember is to give it a chance to adjust. Bring it outside for an hour the first day, then increase the time an hour every day till you can leave it out for up to ten hours. Remember that you need to adjust/acclimate the tree to the light as well. You don't want to put the tree into shock. Of course trees that you have outside already do not need this. They can be planted straight away. If you have them in containers, then they will benefit from the added insulation the ground will provide.

This is also a good time to scout around and get trees at a very big discount. Shrubs as well. Places like Lowe's and Home Depot usually have their trees at a 75% discount around this time of year. Yes, it can be a risk and if you don't know what to look for the tree or shrub may be already dead. Look for some flexibility in the branches. It may look dead, but there is still life in these flora. If you bend a branch and it snaps, the poor plant has not made it.

I enjoy planting in the fall. It gives you something to look forward to in the spring. You can watch the sleeping trees or shrubs come to life from the hibernation you brought them from. It takes a little patience, but I find it rewarding. Sometimes it's a gamble, you never know if you will be a winner or a looser. But, what is life without these little gambles. It brings out the sense of hope that keeps us going.

Winter Cleaning, More Important Than Spring?

I've been going through everything in my house starting from the back and working my way up. A cleansing of sorts, tossing away anything that is not serving a purpose. Clothes that make me feel frumpy, gone. Anything that has any negative feelings or emotion tied to them, gone. Some of these items were as small as a votive candle holder and a picture hanging on the wall.
Anything that doesn't make you happy or feel good should just go. Why not. Your surroundings are a reflection of yourself. Your surroundings also influence the way you feel. Now that winter is coming you will be spending that much more time indoors staring at any clutter or unnecessary items that have outlived their time in your living space. There should be a winter cleaning
.
We are constantly growing and evolving as people, shouldn't your living space reflect this. Just because you've had a certain nick nack or dust collector as I call them, since you were a little girl/boy doesn't mean that you have to keep it for the rest of your life. All you end up with is a lot of clutter or a lot of boxes full of mementos that sit in storage. What purpose is that serving? If you want to have the memory forever, take a picture to remember your precious memento that you've had since your first Christmas. Better yet give it to a family member who will love it and appreciate that it used to be yours, making the gift all that more special. Children think that items of their beloved family are very special. I remember looking at nick nacks or decorations of my moms, my grandmother and grandfather and thinking that they were very important. If I'd of been given something that was theirs I would have felt very privileged.
This is the perfect time to get your house in a positive condition before the winters are settled in. You may find a cast aside book or project that was stuffed in a closet and forgotten. I found puzzles that haven't been done yet, a Lite Brite that I've had since I was a child and brought home from my own parents attic. Something that I couldn't wait till my son was old enough to play with, went completely forgotten in my hallway closet. Games I forgot I had, unfinished sewing projects. Plenty of stuff to keep me occupied for the winter.
But one of the key things to remember is clearing out some negative energy from your home. Winter time has always been a time of reflecting and regrouping. What kind of baggage do you have hidden in your closets? Do some soul searching and drop the material as well as psychological baggage. There is a saying that goes; clutter in the home is clutter in the mind. Time to make this a yearly ritual and break loose bonds that keep you from enjoying life the way it should be. We are never the same person that we were five, ten, a year ago, so why live the same life from five, ten, a years ago.

Get the Good Stuff While You Can

Winter has made it's entrance and the last thing on people's mind are growing things. But this is still a prime opportunity to collect seeds for next year. This is an opportunity to find plants to grow for the coming winter. Some plants have very attractive seed heads that look attractive in the yard or in the home. Wreaths and plant arrangements to name a few.

There are seeds hanging off my cherry tree that have been picked and I will plant them next year to grow for friends and family. I've collected seeds off of one bush that grows exceptionally well in our yard. Lingering plants in the garden still have seeds to give. There is nothing better than harvesting your own seeds for next years crop.

So on these last fairly warm and tolerable days of the year take the time out to gather seeds that are hanging on till the end. They deserve a chance to grow and become the full potential that they possess. And yes, it will save you money on seeds or plants that you would otherwise buy next year.

The Oil Deception-Part II

I am finally posting the part 2 of the Oil Deception. If you have not read part 1 you can do so here. I think that it is worth the read, it is always good to have a bigger picture and hear different veiwpoints.

Radio Liberty Newsletter - September 2008

September 2008
OIL DECEPTION II

"By the time you receive this letter, the price of oil will probably be much lower than it is today. . . . The U.S. economy is collapsing, inflation and unemployment are soaring (13%), the value of the dollar and home prices are declining, and the public is waiting for the current recession to end so they can resume their comfortable lifestyle."August 2008, Radio Liberty letter, p. 6. [1]
"There is as much crude oil on the North Slope of Alaska as in Saudi Arabia. . . . There are many hundreds of square miles of oil under the North Slope of Alaska." Lindsey Williams, The Energy Non-Crisis, p.181. [2]
"Likewise, in April, the U.S. Geological Survey revised its estimate for the Bakken Shale, underneath the badlands of North Dakota and Montana. The new assessment - as much as 4.3 billion barrels of oil - is a 25-fold increase over what the Survey believed in 1995. Such breakthroughs confirm that very large reserves exist, if only Congress would let business get at them." The Wall Street Journal, June 30, 2008 [3]
"The problem we face is not new in history. Authoritarianism has been around a long time. For centuries, inflation and debt have been used by tyrants to hold power, promote aggression, and provide 'bread and circuses' for the people. . . . Time is short for making a course correction before this grand experiment in liberty goes into deep hibernation." Congressman Ron Paul, Congressional Record, July 9, 2008 [4]
My August 2008 Radio Liberty letter discussed the devastating effect of the skyrocketing price of oil that was taking place at that time, but noted:
"By the time you receive this letter, the price of oil will probably be much lower than it is today. . . . The U.S. economy is collapsing, inflation and unemployment are soaring (13%), the value of the dollar and home prices are declining, and the public is waiting for the current recession to end so they can resume their comfortable lifestyle. That isn't going to happen. The inflationary depression that lies ahead will last for many years and the value of our currency will be destroyed." [5]
I wrote those words a week before the price of oil peaked at $147.02 a barrel on July 11, 2008. How did I know that the price of oil was going to decline? Why did the Oil Cartel (associated with the Brotherhood of Darkness- aka the BOD) increase the price of oil during the early months of 2008? Why did the BOD orchestrate the collapse of the world financial system?
To understand the cause of the devastating financial events we are witnessing today, you must recognize the fact that a small group of wealthy men (the BOD and members of the CFR) control both political parties, and use the wealth and military power of our nation to direct the course of world events. [6] What is their goal? They want to destroy Christianity, create a world religion, eliminate national sovereignty, establish a world government, introduce a global currency, and enthrone a world leader. How does the BOD control the political process? Through the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) which was a front for the Royal Institute of International Affairs, which was a front for the Round Table Group, which was a front for the Association of Helpers, which was a front for the Circle of Initiates, which was organized to conceal the existence of the secret (occult) society that Cecil Rhodes organized in 1891 to unify the world. [7]
Professor Carroll Quigley's book, Tragedy and Hope: A History of The World In Our Time, documents the origin of the Council on Foreign Relations, our "Invisible Government":
"The Royal Institute of International Affairs had as its nucleus in each area the existing submerged Round Table Group. In New York it was known as the Council on Foreign Relations, and was a front for J.P. Morgan and Company in association with the very small American Round Table Group." [8]
If my information is correct, why hasn't someone tried to tell the American people that members of the CFR control our nation? Richard Harwood, the former National Editor of The Washington Post, tried to expose the CFR's control of our government in an article that was published in The Washington Post on October 30, 1993, but the article was buried on page 21, and very few people are aware of Richard Harwood's effort to expose the sinister cabal. He wrote:
"The president is a member. So is his secretary of state, the deputy secretary of state, all five of the undersecretaries, several of the assistant secretaries and the department's legal adviser. The president's national security adviser and his deputy are members. The director of Central Intelligence (like all previous directors) and the chairman of the Foreign Intelligence Advisory board are members. The secretary of defense, three undersecretaries and at least four assistant secretaries are members. The secretaries of the departments of housing and urban development, interior, health and human services and the chief White House public relations man, David Gergen, are members, along with the speaker of the House and the majority leader of the Senate." [9]
Very little has changed since that time. John McCain is a long-time member of the CFR, Joe Biden was a member of the CFR, and both John McCain and Barak Obama have attended CFR meetings and addressed the organization. [10]
How does the BOD get members of Congress, and the rulers of foreign nations, to accept the BOD's agenda? My August 2008 Radio Liberty letter (page 6) describes some of the measures that have been used to force people to accede to the BOD's program. Please reread that segment, and note my reference to the assassinations of Martin Luther King and Senator Robert Kennedy.
How has the BOD concealed its existence? Professor Ben Bagdikian's book, The New Media Monopoly, documents the little-known fact that five megacorporations control 90-95% of the major media outlets in the United States, and censor the information the American people read, hear, and see. [11]
The BOD has been trying to convince the American people the United States is running out of oil since 1973. Many people embrace that view, but is it true? I began to question the premise in 1980 or 1981 when I heard a radio interview with a man named Lindsey Williams who claimed he was the Chaplain on the Trans-Alaska pipeline project from 1974 -1977, and that he met many of the powerful men who control oil production throughout the world. Lindsey Williams also claimed he witnessed the discovery of a massive oil field on Gull Island (5 miles north of Prudhoe Bay), but the following day was told by a senior ARCO executive (Mr. X) to forget what he had seen and been told.
Subsequently Lindsey Williams wrote a book he titled The Energy Non-Crisis that described the massive oil field on Gull Island, and when I began my radio ministry in 1993, I interviewed Lindsey Williams on several occasions. Each time I was impressed by his story, but wondered if his information was really correct. During the years that followed, several people contacted me, and said they knew Lindsey when he was the Chaplain on the Trans-Alaska pipeline, but that didn't substantiate Lindsey's story about the Gull Island oil field. Eventually I called Lindsey and asked him for the telephone number of an ARCO Executive (a Mr. Y) Lindsey mentioned on my program. When I contacted Mr. Y, he confirmed Lindsey's story, and stated (in essence):
"I have never understood why ARCO and the other oil companies didn't develop the Gull Island oil field. It's one of the largest pools in the world."
I asked Mr. Y to appear on one of my radio programs, but he feared he would lose his job if he mentioned the Gull Island oil field on the air. I understood Mr. Y's concern because the faceless men who run the world discredit or destroy people who oppose them, I have interviewed several assassins who were commissioned by the CIA, and at least three of my guests have died under mysterious circumstances. One of them (Gary Webb) supposedly shot himself in the head twice to be certain he was dead. [12]
At that point I was convinced Lindsey Williams' story was accurate, but I had no idea where my friendship with Lindsey Williams would lead, or the shocking information Mr. X would reveal in May 2008.
Shortly after Lindsey Williams' book was published in 1980, Mr. X contacted Lindsey and told him he (Mr. X) had been fired because he told Lindsey about the Gull Island oil field. The former ARCO executive was furious, and offered to help rewrite Lindsey's book and clarify the information. Lindsey accepted Mr. X's offer, and they revised the text of The Energy Non-Crisis together.
Chapter 17 of the revised edition of Lindsey Williams' book begins with this statement:
"Gull Island just proved what the oil companies have believed for some time. It authenticated the seismographic findings. Seismographic testing has indicated that there is as much crude oil on the North Slope of Alaska as in Saudi Arabia. Since the Gull Island find proved to be seismographically correct, then the other testings are correct also. There are many hundreds of square miles of oil under the North Slope of Alaska.
To clarify what I am about to say, let me first re-emphasize that the government permitted the oil companies to drill and prove many sites (subsequently making them cap the wells and keep secret the proof of the finds), but they do not allow them to produce from the wells. This is why I have referred . . . to a number of wells having been drilled (after I left the North Slope). The only production permitted is from the small area of the North Slope. . . .
Three wells have been drilled, proven and capped at Gull Island. The East Dock well also hit the Gull Island oil pool. . . . For forty miles to the east of Gull Island there has not been a single dry hole drilled, although many wells have been drilled. This shows the immensity of the size of the field.
The Gull Island oil find is even larger than the Prudhoe Bay field, which is presently producing more that two million barrels of oil every twenty-four hours. . . .
Where is the energy crisis? It surely is not on the North Slope of Alaska, so it must be only in Washington, D.C.!
Now - just in case Gull Island didn't blow your mind, try this on for size! Only recently, just west of Gull Island, the Kuparuk oil field has been drilled.
Again, this is a totally separate pool of oil from either the Prudhoe Bay field or the Gull Island field. . . .
In an entirely different area of the North Slope than the 100-square-mile area of the Prudhoe Bay field, the Kuparuk field is approximately 60 miles long by 30 miles wide and contains approximately the same amount of oil as the Prudhoe Bay field. . . .
From 1973 through 1980 we were being told continually that America was in the midst of a major energy crisis, yet no oil production was allowed from the Kuparuk field. It wasn't until 1981 that permission was finally granted for production. Why the delay - if there really was a crisis.
The reason that Mr. X made the statement that there is as much crude oil on the North Slope of Alaska as in all of Saudi Arabia is because the oil companies have drilled all over the North Slope and have proven there is that much oil there, but still they are only allowed to produce from the small area." [13]
Mr. X described the oil fields:
The oil field at Prudhoe Bay is approximately 100 square miles in size.
The Kuparuk oil field is twice the size of the Prudhoe Bay field.
The Gull Island oil field is four times the size of the Prudhoe Bay field, and may be the richest oil field on the face of the earth. [14]
Two years later ARCO rehired Mr. X and gave him a raise in salary to prevent him from revealing more information about the massive oil deposits that lie north of the Arctic circle.
If his statement is true, how has the information been kept from the American people? It's very simple. The U.S. has "freedom of the press," which means the men and women who control the American media (the BOD and the CFR) can censor the information that is released to the public. If you doubt that is true, I suggest you read the remainder of Richard Harwood's 1993 Washington Post article:
"In the past 15 years, council directors (CFR-ed) have included Hedley Donovan of Time Inc., Elizabeth Drew of the New Yorker, Philip Geyelin of The Washington Post, Karen Elliott House of the Wall Street Journal and Strobe Talbott of Time magazine. . . . The editorial page editor, deputy editorial page editor, executive editor, managing editor, foreign editor, national affairs editor, business and financial editor, and various writers as well as Katharine Graham, the paper's principal owner, represent The Washington Post in the council's membership. The executive editor, managing editor and foreign editor of the New York Times are members, along with executives of such other newspapers, net- work television executives and celebrities - Dan Rather, Tom Brokaw, and Jim Lehrer, for example - and various columnists, among them Charles Krauthammer, William Buckley, George Will and Jim Hoagland. . . . They do not merely analyze and interpret foreign policy for the United States, they help make it." [15]
Is the world running out of oil? Several untapped resources are listed below:
1. The Bakken Oil field
2. The Arctic National Wildlife Reserve (ANWR)
3. U.S. off-shore oil
4. Brazil off-shore oil
5. The recent discovery above the Arctic Circle
6. Indonesia
7. Canadian oil sands
8. Colorado-Utah-Wyoming shale
9. Coal conversion

Where is the Bakken oil field? A June 30, 2008, article in The Wall Street Journal states:
"Likewise, in April, the U.S. Geologic Survey revised its estimate for the Bakken Shale, underneath the badlands of North Dakota and Montana. The new assessment - as much as 4.3 billion barrels of oil - is a 25-fold increase over what the Survey believed in 1995. Such breakthroughs confirm that very large reserves exist, if only Congress would let business get at them." [16]
Most people believe The Wall Street Journal is a conservative newspaper, but that isn't true. The BOD controls The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, the three major news magazines, and most of the other major media outlets in the United States. The Wall Street Journal article suggests Congress is primarily responsible for the domestic shortage of oil, but that isn't true. OPEC, the major oil companies, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the Environmentalists, and a number of other organizations work in concert with the BOD to restrict oil production in the United States. [17]
The Wall Street Journal article suggests the Bakken oil field may contain 4.3 billion barrels of oil, but that isn't a significant discovery. Since the U.S. consumes 20 million barrels of oil a day and the Bakken field may contain 4.3 billion barrels of oil, if the Bakken field was developed the oil would last 215 days. What is the true status of the Bakken reserve? A recent article in The New York Post tells a far different story. (May 29, 2008)
"Here's some very good news about oil that the manipulators on Wall Street don't want you to know. There could be as much as 40 billion barrels of crude lying untouched in eastern Montana.
That's billion with a "b" - as in a ball-breaking amount for those speculators who are purposely pushing the oil higher for their own selfish reasons.
Who says? Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer does, adding that his state - with fewer than 1 million residents - would be thrilled to bail the US out of its current energy predicament . . .
Right now, the US Geological Survice estimates that there are 4.3 billion barrels of recoverable oil in the Bakken region, which also reaches into North Dakota.
'They are always conservative,' said Schweitzer, who greeted me in his office dressed in jeans, a white shirt and a string tie. 'There will be more. It'll probably be more like 40 billion.'" [18]
Does the Bakken reserve contain 40 billion barrels of oil? Could the Bakken reserve contain more? Would the BOD kill people to prevent them from telling the truth?
Fortunately most of my readers can access the Internet, and verify the following information which can be found on wikipedia:
"A landmark paper by Dow and a companion paper by Williams (1974) recognized the Bakken as a tremendous source for . . . oil. . . . These papers suggested that the Bakken was capable of generating 10 billion barrels of oil. Webster (1982, 1984) . . . further sampled and analyzed the Bakken and calculated hydrocarbon generation capacities to be about 92 BBbls. These data were updated by Schmoker and Hester (1983) who estimated that the Bakken was capable of generating 132 BBbls of oil in North Dakota and Montana. A research paper by USGS geochemist Leigh Price in 1999 estimated the total amount of oil contained in the Bakken shales ranged from 271 billion to 503 billion barrels, with a mean of 413 billion barrels. While others before him had begun to realize that the oil generated by the Bakken shale had remained within the Bakken, it was Price, who had spent much of his career studying the Bakken, who particularly stressed this point. If he was right, the large amounts of oil remaining in this formation would make it a prime oil exploration target. Unfortunately, Price passed away (suddenly-ed) in 2000 before his research could be peer-reviewed and published. . . . New estimates of the amount of hydrocarbons generated by the Bakken were presented by Meissner and Banks (2000) and by Flannery and Kraus (2006). The first of these papers tested a newly developed computer model with existing Bakken data to estimate generated oil of 32 BBbls. The second paper used a more sophisticated computer program with extensive data input supplied by the ND Geological Survey and Oil and Gas Division. Early numbers generated from this information placed the value at 200 BBbls later revised to 300 BBbls when the paper was presented in 2006. In April 2008, a report issued by the state of North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources estimated that the North Dakota portion of the Bakken contained 167 billion barrels of oil." [19]
Why am I suspicious about Dr. Leigh Price's sudden death? Because Dr. Price was going to release a report that revealed the truth about the Bakken reserve, and the BOD doesn't want the public to know there are several trillion barrels of oil in North America.
Next month I will tell you how I knew the price of oil was going to fall, I will reveal the location of the massive oil deposits in North America, I will tell you why the BOD raised the price of oil during the early months of 2008, and I will tell you what Mr. X told Lindsey Williams in May of this year.
We are living in perilous times. What can we do? We can expose the dark spiritual force that energizes the BOD, and disseminate Congressman Ron Paul's warning. (July 9, 2008)
"The problem we face is not new in history. Authoritarianism has been around a long time. For centuries, inflation and debt have been used by tyrants to hold power, promote aggression, and provide 'bread and circuses' for the people. . . . Time is short for making a course correction before this grand experiment in liberty goes into deep hibernation." [20]
Please contact your friends and family, and tell them about the BOD's effort to destroy Christianity, establish world government, and enthrone a world leader.
You have my permission to copy and disseminate anything I have produced.

The Oil Deception-Part I

I came across this newsletter while checking out a web page that my cousin had sent me from Radio Liberty. Wanting to see what kind of newsletters they had I went to the archives and found the August newsletter to be The Oil Deception. So of course I had to check it out. Some info in the newsletter we all know, but it gave me a bigger view of the whole picture, which is something that we should all have. I wanted to share this with you. Because..."knowledge is power!" Anybody too young to remember that?

Radio Liberty Newsletter - August 2008

[" THE OIL DECEPTION

"General Motors is now nearer to bankruptcy than at any time since it nearly failed in 1920. . . . Its bonds are junk. Its sales are in shambles. Its management is in denial. . . ."Dr. Martin Weiss newsletter, July 14, 2008 [1]

"Utilities and industry analysts estimate that it will cost families 30% to 50% more to heat their homes with natural gas this winter. Families who use heating oil could face increases of between 50% and 100%. . . . 'I don't see any way to make the numbers work for middle-income people. . . . They're already shopping at WalMart and eating out less. They'll have to cut back everything that makes them middle class. At some point, you're poor.'" Rebecca Smith, The Wall Street Journal, July 18, 2008 [2]

"President Bush on Monday lifted an executive ban on offshore oil drilling and challenged Congress to follow suit, aiming to turn the enormous public frustration about gasoline prices into political leverage. . . . By lifting the executive prohibition against coastal drilling, Bush rescinded a White House policy that his father put in place in 1990." San Jose Mercury News, July 15, 2008 [3]

"There is as much crude oil on the North Slope of Alaska as in all of Saudi Arabia . . . the oil companies have drilled all over the North Slope and have proven there is that much oil there. . . ." Lindsey Williams, "The Energy Non-Crisis," 1980 [5]

"The problem we face is not new in history. Authoritarianism has been around a long time. For centuries, inflation and debt have been used by tyrants to hold power, promote aggression, and provide 'bread and circuses' for the people. . . . Time is short for making a course correction before this grand experiment in liberty goes into deep hibernation."Congressman Ron Paul, July 9, 2008 [6]

The skyrocketing price of gasoline and other petroleum products has had a devastating impact on the American way of life. What is happening? Who is responsible for the increase in the price of oil? Is the oil shortage real or contrived? What does the future hold? What can we do to prevent the impending collapse of our economy?

WHAT IS HAPPENING?

A: THE AIRLINE INDUSTRY
The U.S. airline industry is on the verge of collapse. Skybus, Aloha, and a number of other small carriers have ceased operation, and every major American carrier, with the exception of SouthWest airline, has been forced to lay off personnel, curtail flights, limit service, mothball planes, and increase the cost of fares. American Airlines posted a $1.45 billion loss in the second quarter of 2008. Delta posted a $1.04 billion loss during that period. U.S. Airways, the parent company of United Airlines, reported a $567 million loss, and Continental Airlines announced they should be able to continue operating for 18 months. [7]
Because of the looming insolvency of the U.S. airline industry, several carriers cancelled their orders for aircraft from Boeing, and Boeing's shares collapsed. The company announced they are laying off 750 employees in southern California because they lost a major military contract, but additional layoffs are expected. [8]

B: BUSINESS
Most of the major industries that remain in the United States have been plagued by the rising cost of oil. GM, Ford, and Chrysler have limited their production of gas-guzzling vehicles (SUVs and pick-up trucks), and curtailed production of smaller vehicles because most people can't afford to buy a new car today. As a result, the three companies are losing money on almost every vehicle they produce, and there is a distinct possibility they will be forced into receivership (bankruptcy) if the U.S. economy doesn't recover in 2009. Dr. Martin Weiss addressed that problem when he wrote:
"General Motors is now nearer to bankruptcy than at any time since it nearly failed in 1920.
Its bonds are junk. Its sales are in shambles. Its management is in denial. . . .
Even Wall Street . . . estimates GM has a 75% chance of going broke within the next five years, based on the actual trading of specialized insurance contracts called credit default swaps. That's 3 to 1 odds the company will not survive. . . ." [9]
The three major automobile manufacturers are trying to buy back the benefits they guaranteed their union employees so they can hire people who will work for lower wages and limited benefits, but that won't save the American automotive industry. Why? Because U.S. laborers can't compete with Chinese, Thai and Malaysian workers who work for 15-20% of the salaries that are paid in the United States. What is the solution? If the United States remains in the global economy, the living standards of American workers will have to be lowered so our automotive factories can compete with the factories that GM and Ford are building in Malaysia, Thailand, and China. [10]

C: CROPS
The sharp increase in the price of diesel fuel, the rise in the cost of petrochemical fertilizer and potash, the regional droughts and floods that have plagued our nation, and the current economic contraction threatens the survival of thousands of privately owned farms across the United States. [11]

D: DRIVERS
The high cost of diesel fuel is devastating our trucking industry:
"The American Trucking Association predicted that truckers will have to shell out $140 billion for diesel in 2008, sharply higher than the $112 billion they spent in 2007." [12]
Some independent truckers have lost their rigs because they couldn't make their monthly payments. Other drivers have parked their trucks and are waiting for the price of fuel to drop. Many of them are looking for employment elsewhere, but good-paying jobs are hard to find in the United States because the real unemployment rate is over 13%. What is the result? The cost of home delivery, UPS, FedEx, cross country shipping and regional shipping has risen, and will continue to increase until the cost of diesel fuel declines.

E: ENERGY
The increase in the price of oil and natural gas has raised the cost of electricity. Most of the power that drives our remaining industries is derived from burning coal and natural gas, but between 1/2 and 2% of our electricity is generated by burning oil. [13]
ETHANOL
The 2005 Energy Act was designed to make the U.S. energy independent. The legislation required refineries to add 10% corn-based ethanol to gasoline, and gave the ethanol producers a $7 billion subsidy for 4.9 billion gallons of ethanol ($1.45 a gallon). What happened? The legislation raised the cost of corn and other grains, and has contributed to the destruction of the American economy. At the present time 25% of our corn crop is used to manufacture ethanol despite the fact that production consumes far more energy than it supplies, and the U.S. could import ethanol from Brazil at a much lower cost.
What is the result? The price of corn and other grains has doubled, and the cost of products that are dependent on feeding grain to animals (chicken, eggs, milk, catfish, farmed fish etc.) has increased. Many dairymen, cattlemen and hog farmers are slaughtering their herds because they can't afford to feed them, so we can expect the price of meat to increase next year when a shortage materializes. [14]

F: FAMILIES
American families are beginning to feel the devastating impact of the increase in the price of oil, natural gas, and electricity. The Wall Street Journal reports (July 18, 2008):
"Utilities and industry analysts estimate that it will cost families 30% to 50% more to heat their homes with natural gas this winter. Families who use heating oil could face increases of between 50% and 100%. . . .
Mark Wolfe, executive director of the National Energy Assistance Directors' Association, . . . says many New England families could run a tab of $1,600 to $1,700 a month to cover heating oil, electricity and gasoline costs next winter.
'I don't see any way to make the numbers work for middle-income people,' he says, adding, 'They're already shopping at WalMart and eating out less. They'll have to cut back everything that makes them middle class. At some point, you're poor.'" [15]

G: GENERAL
Oil is an essential ingredient in the production of wax, plastic products, styrofoam, paint, some drugs, ethylene, polyethylene resins, propylene, asphalt, lubricants, solvents, Kevlar, and many other products. The increase in the price of oil has increased the cost of those items.

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SURGING PRICE OF OIL?
Some people claim Saudi Arabia and the OPEC nations are responsible for the increase in the price of oil. Other people accuse the major oil companies. Congress enacted a series of laws that restrict offshore oil drilling, exploration in the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve (ANWAR), and extraction of oil in other regions of our country. Is Congress responsible for the skyrocketing price of oil?
In 1990 President George H.W. Bush (Bush I) signed an Executive Order that restricted offshore oil drilling, President Clinton supported the ban, and George W. Bush maintained the restriction until July 14, 2008, when he lifted the ban on offshore oil drilling, and encouraged Congress to authorize drilling. [16]
President Bush knows that lifting his father's ban on off shore drilling won't affect the price of oil for many years, but he wanted to shift the blame for the energy crisis to Congress. Why? Because President George H.W. Bush (Bush I), Bill Clinton, and President George W. Bush (Bush II) blocked offshore oil drilling for 18 years, and the current President Bush aggravated the oil shortage by ordering the DOE to purchase millions of barrels of oil for the National Strategic Oil Reserve when the price of oil was soaring in 2007 and the early months of 2008. As a result, many people believe George W. Bush, and his father, are responsible for the surging price of oil.
Is the environmental movement responsible for the problem? Are the speculators who manipulate the price of oil on the commodity exchange responsible? What, or who, is responsible for the devastating increase in the cost of oil? Will the price continue to increase, or will it fall?
Before I answer those questions, you must understand the logistics of the oil industry, and the goal of the men who control the production of oil throughout the world.
The latest valid statistics I could find on oil production and consumption are from 2006. The phrase "mbd" reflects "millions of barrels of oil per day," and the phrase "bpd" reflects barrels per day.
In 2006: * Saudi Arabia produced 10.7 mbd, and exported 8.65 mbd.* Russia produced 9.67 mbd, and exported 6.57 mbd* The U.S. produced 8.37 mbd, and exported very little oil.* Iran produced 4.12 mbd, and exported 2.52 mbd* Mexico produced 3.71 mbd, and exported 1.68 mbd. [17]
Russia is the world's largest exporter of natural gas, and the world's second largest exporter of oil because U.S. officials, British Petroleum (BP), Exxon Mobil, and Royal Dutch Shell helped the Russian oil companies (the KGB and Russian Mafia) develop their petroleum resources. [18] Why did President George H.W. Bush, President Clinton, and President George W. Bush aid Russia, and block development of the oil and natural gas resources that are readily available in the United States?
In January 2008 the world consumed 87 mbd. The U.S. produced 8.37 mbd and consumed 20.5 mbd during that time, so the U.S. imported approx. 12 mbd from other nations.
In May 2008:* Canada supplied the U.S. 1.840 mbd of oil per day * Saudi Arabia supplied 1.579 mbd * Mexico supplied 1.116 mbd * Venezuela supplied 1.030 mpd* Nigeria supplied 851,000 bpd, and* Iraq supplied 583,000 bpd. [19]
Most of the remaining oil the U.S. consumed in January 2008 was purchased from Angola, Brazil, Kuwait, Colombia, Ecuador, Russia, Libya, and Equatorial Guinea. The U.S. is currently spending over $300 billion a year for foreign oil, and transferring the wealth of our nation to other nations. Is that necessary? As you will learn next month, the U.S. has some of the largest oil reserves in the world, but the cabal that controls the U.S. has blocked efforts to develop them.
The increase in the price of oil has led to lower consumption:
"The U.S. Energy Information Administration revised downward U.S. April oil demand by 863,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 19.77 million bpd . . . 3.9 percent below year-ago levels. The revision, which showed April demand was the lowest for the month since April 2002, came even before gasoline prices surged to new records in June." [20]
Why did the cost of oil increase in April 2008 when U.S. consumption declined? Because the speculators (who work for the BOD) drove up the price of oil, and the U.S. officials who are supposed to regulate the commodity exchange didn't intervene. A recent article disseminated by the McClatchy News Service reveals:
"Michael Greenberger, a former top staffer at the Commodities Futures Trading Commission, said, 'There can be no doubt that there is a supply-and-demand problem at work here. But many believe, including me, that there's a speculative premium that goes beyond what supply-and-demand factors dictate. And that's what could be drained with aggressive United States regulation. . . .
My calculation is right now that about. . . . 70 percent of the U.S. crude oil market is driven by speculators and not people with commercial interests. Most of those speculators do not have spec limits. They can buy whatever they want.'" Michael Greenberger, Testimony, Senate Committee onCommerce, Science and Transportation, 6/3/08 [21]
On June 11, 2008, the Secretary-General of OPEC commented:
"The price has nothing to do with a shortage of oil. There's a lot of oil on the market. It's because of speculation and OPEC cannot control speculation." [22]
The Senate Democratic Policy Committee noted the view of major oil-company executives:
"Marathon Oil CEO Clarence Cazalot Jr. said, '$100 oil isn't justified by the physical demand in the market. It has to be speculation on the futures market that is fueling this." Detroit Free Press, 10/30/07 [23]
"Jeroen van der Veer, CEO of Royal Dutch Shell said: 'The [oil] fundamentals are no problem. They are the same as they were when oil was selling for $60 a barrel, which is in itself quite a unique phenomenon." Washington Post, 4/11/08 [24]
"Exxon Mobil Senior Vice President Stephen Simon told the Senate Judiciary Committee, 'The price of oil should be about $50-$55 a barrel.'"Senate Judiciary Committee, 4/1/08 [25]
"In June, Gerry Ramm, President of the Inland Oil Company on behalf of the Petroleum Marketers Association of America, testified: 'Excessive speculation on energy trading facilities is the fuel that is driving this runaway train in crude oil prices."Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee Hearing, 6/3/08 [26]
What caused the increase in the price of oil? Unregulated commodity speculation and the decline in the value of the American dollar. Why didn't the Bush administration intervene and stop the commodity speculation? I believe the Brotherhood of Darkness (BOD ) wants to debase our currency and destroy our nation.
What part did OPEC play? The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Nations (OPEC) has twelve members: Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Quatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Libya, Algeria, Nigeria, Angola, Venezuela, and Ecuador. The controlled-media is trying to convince the American people that OPEC is responsible for the dramatic increase in the price of oil, but that isn't true. The U.S. State Department controls most of the OPEC regimes, dictates their foreign policy, and removes government leaders who do not accede to the orders they receive from Washington, D.C. Can that be proven? Certainly. If you doubt my assertion, I suggest you read John Perkins' books, Confessions of an Economic Hit Man, and The Secret History of the American Empire, listen to my interviews with John Perkins (the 4-tape or CD set, Economic Hit Men), and learn about the assassinations of high-ranking foreign officials that took place during the years that John Perkins worked for the American Establishment. If you remain skeptical, I suggest you read the "Conclusion" of the 1976-1977 U.S. Senate Church Committee Report, and Lt. Colonel Daniel Marvin's book, The Expendable Elite, which reveals the CIA asked Lt. Colonel Marvin to assassinate Prince Sihanouk, the ruler of Cambodia. I also suggest you read William Pepper's book, An Act of State, which deals with the CIA's involvement in the murder of Martin Luther King, and Robert Joling's book, An Open and Shut Case, which deals with the assassination of Bobby Kennedy. [27]
What part did Congress, the executive branch of government, the major oil companies, and the environmental movement play in the coordinated effort to increase the price of oil? All of them were involved because they are subservient to the Spiritual Hierarchy that rules the world. [28]
By the time you receive this letter, the price of oil will probably be much lower than it is today. Why did the Establishment raise the price of oil, then let it fall? I will answer that question next month.
The U.S. economy is collapsing, inflation and unemployment are soaring (13%), the value of the dollar and home prices are declining, and the public is waiting for the current recession to end so they can resume their comfortable lifestyle. That isn't going to happen. The inflationary depression that lies ahead will last for many years and the value of our currency will be destroyed.

I know it was a eye full. I found the general info interesting as I never thought something so simple as styrofoam would be affected. We are all watching the price of food and daily products we use rise, due to the rising cost of production. Serving sizes are shrinking, and the size of products like my shampoo are shrinking (dang it!). I hadn't even noticed the smaller ounces till it was pointed out to me and I started paying attention to ALL the products around me at the store.

Saving Money For Christmas-Your New Tradition

I always been a bit of scrooge when it comes to Christmas. It started when I was a child as I saw what a stressful time it was for my parents financially. Then of course as I grew up and moved out on my own I didn't exactly have the money for all those presents I was now expected to buy as a new adult.

So it struck me why not find new uses for items that are in good shape, but no longer needed in your home. Toys that have been outgrown by kids can now be an exciting gift for a younger niece or nephew. An example, I was talking on the phone with my sister about how my son has outgrown his My First Leap Pad and needs to move up to the next level. She has one that was her oldest son's and her youngest one never uses it because he is more interested in his V-Tech. So I dropped the hint that it would be a perfect gift for my little boy and then she wouldn't have to worry about spending money for his gift. Which of course she immediately agreed to.

This got me thinking. Why not use this idea for everybody? A way to reuse items around your home that are taking up space. If you are thinking about changing the way your decorating your kitchen and you know your mother has always loved that rooster towel set and napkin holder, then she would love it for Christmas. Heck, if your sick of the whole rooster theme, give her the whole shebang! Then she can have the joy of redoing her kitchen too!

Maybe there is a yard statue you have and your brother always wished he had one too. Well, make his wish come true! Is there a teenager in your family that has seen some of your old clothes or jewelery and thought they were so retro! I'm sure this teen would not mind to get such cool clothes. Preteens may love that makeup that you bought, tried one time and didn't like the color. An animal lover may love getting that huge cage that you don't use anymore taking up space in your attic or garage. The animal will benefit too, getting a larger living space.

I think you get the point. This can become a family tradition. Make a game or competition out of it. See who comes up with the most original ideas. This will take a little more imagination on every ones part you will have to start paying attention, getting ideas for the following years. So much better than getting a bath and body gift set. Or all the useless gifts they have cluttering up all the stores around this time of year.

Save money, give household items a second life. I think it is more fun trying to figure out that special gift right from your own home. So much more personal too. And hey it will make room in your home for the gifts that you will undoubtedly receive this season. Make it the new tradition, the season is for giving not spending, now how cool is that.

Just a note, make sure you run this idea with all family members. Some may not be too keen on the idea at first, but if you can talk them into giving it a try for just one year, I think it will become a family tradition.

Canning the Paper Spam

We all hate to get junk mail. You would think these companies would realize this by now. I remember getting an email, oh, probably a year ago that suggested sending it back to them. Most of these companies have return envelopes with free shipping. So send it back to them, add some other junk mail or advertisers as well to add weight. They will have wasted money on sending it too you and wasting money on the return postage, all for nothing. Not to mention the wage that they have to pay employees to open these useless envelopes as well.

The thinking behind this is that if enough people, like everyone, sent their mail back, then it would not be profitable to advertise in this way. Putting a stop to such a huge waste of trees. There are other less wasteful ways to advertise. Send the message, we don't want your paper!

Some of these companies don't have return envelopes, just a phone number. So... I call them and tell them to take me off of their mailing list. I know, I know, nobody likes talking to these people, but take one for the planet. I always make these calls while I'm doing the bills or checking my emails. That way I don't waste any of my time while doing this.

One tip; when it comes to the list full of options, press whatever number it is to sign up for service. They will put you through right away, afraid they will loose out on some money if they make you wait too long. When they start talking shop cut them off and tell them "Actually, I just want off the mailing list. I didn't know who else to tell." They have to take you off by law.

If they try to start their sales pitch. Just cut them off, don't let them finish the first sentence. Just say "No Thank You, I just want off the mailing list." If they still try, repeat "No Thank You, I just want off the mailing list." They will eventually give up if they are the pushy type. Most of them will stop with the sales pitch after the first time or two.

If everyone says no to junk mail, we can help to put a stop it. Tell your friends and family and maybe we can help save a major amount of trees. I personally get great joy out of sending them their junk back.

A Leaf By Any Other Name

It really shocks me this time of year the number of people as well as the number of bagged leaves that are headed for the landfill. These leaves have such value that can be added to your yard, I find it hard to believe that anyone would bag them up and dump them to sit for years, taking up valuable space.

I know everyone is ready to put their lawnmowers away but they have use still yet. All those leaves covering the yard can be mowed and add organic material to your yard. Have you ever walked into the woods and been amazed by the rich soil that lays beneath the plants and leaves. It is all the leaves that fall to the ground every year. You can help the soil in your own yard by letting nature do what it is supposed to do. Leave the trees offerings where they should remain. In your yard!

It is easier to mow them over, then raking, bagging. You know the drill. Save money on garbage bags and fertilizer that you can get for free. I have lots of trees in my yard, so I don't want to here that I don't understand how many leaves have covered over. I sweep off the half foot layer of leaves off my porch to find another half foot layer waiting for me the next day. So yes I know how many leaves can fall from all those beautiful trees.

You will be surprised how they can disappear after a couple goes with the lawn mower. And it adds nutrients to the soil and trees in your yard. Lovely free compost. Waste not want not.
