Would You Like Some Tea With That Contact Solution?

So my son has gotten an eye infection, and I'm talking a BAD one. The biggest nastiest green thick discharge that you have ever seen. On the first day he woke up looking like he got punched in the eye. Swollen, with a dark bruised look underneath. His eye was very red in the corner.
How on earth!? Poor little guy, he hasn't been around anyone with pink eye, where did he get it from. Maybe from playing with the ferret in her cage, my husband blamed. It could be from anything. So, time to do the research. Was it an allergy, pink eye, infection. I have seen my nephew's eyes look this way from allergic reactions to the pollen flying in the air. Oh, please don't let it be an allergy. At least an infection is fixable. I found a web page with some good descriptions of the different eye ailments at article garden. And it looks like a nasty eye infection.
So what am I to do. I had already read that pink eye or eye infections will go away by itself. So what is the point of taking him to the doctor. I will always do the doctoring at home when I can and with a little research found quite a few suggestions. Everything from the milk of breastfeeding mother to blanched Rutaceae (Wikipedia definition) saturated cotton balls. After much searching and reading of reviews/results I chose to go with two:
_TEA BAGS- The infection is drawn out into the teabags, use them as hot as you can since the infection cannot survive the higher heat. Just place over the eyes the longer and more often the better. It was also suggested to make a strong tea and use this as eye drops, so I just gave him really wet bags squeezed enough so that they wouldn't drip while he held them there. I figured this would give him the best of both worlds so far as the tea was concerned.
_ANTIBACTERIAL SOFT CONTACT SOLUTION-The antibacterial properties obviously help with the infection. The way that I did this was to saturated a cotton ball and then squeezed that into his eyes for the drops. I sure didn't want my contact bottle to accidentally touch his funky eyes and pass it on to me, that's for sure!

I am very impressed with how well this combo worked. He is now a healthy eyed little guy once again and it sure didn't take two weeks like the info online said it would. Doctors not needed, thank you very much. I am a firm believer that the body has the ability to heal itself, so keep your meds. Doc.

So, now I know I can cure and eye infection and a toothache at home.

Hmmm. Antibacterial, makes sense. I'll have to try that on my kittens with their funky little eyes, see it that works.
